USA vs. Nordic countries - who wins?

Do you know someone who is constantly saying that the Nordic countries are "better" than USA? Do you lack good arguments against that position? Then I have your solution! This report is it. Read it!

"...Scandinavians are the poorest people in Western Europe once income is adjusted for taxes and the cost of living."
"If nations are being judged on the prosperity of their poorest citizens, then Nordic nations certainly are equal to the United States."
"...strong economic growth is better than income redistribution if the goal is to help the least fortunate in society."

Geir, do you seriously believe in "the best lists" of any kind? What's the best country or the best book is solely based on one's perception. You might like to read Shakespeare's King Lear and I prefer to get my reading done by "poetry" on the walls of the various mens' rooms. However, if I had a pick, I would chose Denmark over the States, hands down.

No-one said anything about "best". However, if you want to enjoy the fruits of the free Western capitalist world, you enjoy more of them in the United States than in Denmark (even, on average, if you are poor).

This is just statistics speaking. Another story would be if you for example hate the English language, don't like Fox or want to live close from your family in Helsinki, then you would probably be satisfied with fewer fruits and more hardship.
